Demand Recall Retainers | Recommended Retainer Wear
Expanders | Appliances | Retainers Home

You have been wearing your retainers for approximately 12 months. As of this appointment, your active retention period was completed, and it is time to release you from our active retention care. Our office will not be scheduling regular check-ups for you, however, we will be more than happy to see you any time you would like; all you need to do is call. It could be on a 6 month basis, yearly, or longer. This is called our Demand Recall. It is important you realize that your mouth is no different than any other part of your body, your teeth age and may move if you stop wearing your retainers completely. I want your teeth to stay straight the rest of your life, so it is necessary to wear them that long. The minimum wear is one night a month, however, you may wish to wear them nightly, if the retainer gets tighter, that usually means that your teeth are trying to move and may require increased wear. If the retainers stay in well and remain approximately the same "tightness", then most likely your wear schedule is satisfactory. If they are falling out or you are having problems, please call us so we can determine necessary action. Always make sure they fit, because the longer the retainers keep fitting, the better the chance of long-term stability of the teeth. This is something only you can do for yourself.

If your retainers become lost, broken or don't fit properly, I would urge you to have them checked as soon as possible. Additional services will be rendered at our normal charge.

Best wishes ahead,
